Doc Savage, 1943
This radio series was based on the Doc Savage character as portrayed in
the Street and Smith comics starting in August of 1941. In Doc Savage Comics
#5 ("The Angry Ghost" by Jack Binder) Doc crash-lands in Tibet
where a Tibetan mystic finds him and nurses him back to health. The mystic
then bestows Doc with
a magic blue hood, which has a sacred ruby on its
forehead. This cowl endows Doc with super-strength and hypnotic powers (as
if his own weren't enough!). So far, no recordings from this series have
turned up. Most of the scripts do exist, though.
