The 86th Floor
Material cut from the end of
Pirate of the Pacific

..."Fooey!" snorted Monk, and made a present of his high silk hat to a brown-skinned, half-naked street urchin. "It'll take a good fight to get me feelin' like a human being again!"
MONK was destined not to wait long for his fight. The fame of Doc Savage and his five men was spreading, and it was that fazne which was to plunge them into the thick of a labyrinth of death, violence, and deceit. It was a slice of hell itself which the future held, a slice carved from the heat-blistered deserts and rugged canyons of the Western United States. A great dam was under construction, and even now a mysterious terror had dropped its clutch upon the humans laboring there. Monk was going to get his fight, even if he didn't know it.
